Giving Up/Cutting Down Alcohol Thread Part 17

Nobody said it would be easy. Just a minor lapse, it's not as if you had ½ bottle of spirit!Slowdown said:I could kick myself. I had the opportunity tonight to record an AF day so giving me the chance to hit my target. But when we arrived at our hotel about 10.15 this evening I had a glass of wine. I have no idea why I did it. I had abstained all evening due to driving and the bang! In the bar to pick up the room keys and a glass of wine it was. Why? Why did I not just go to the room? Really rather cross with myself. Especially when I drank quite a bit last night. 😖Now a gainfully employed bassist again - WooHoo!3 -
25 for me yesterday. Almost cracked last night, had a few stresses and my first thought was "I want a glass of wine". Running a 5k today (just done couch to 5k and this is my first organised run) so very glad I didn't! But shows me I mustn't get complacent about the associations I still make with alcohol (it's to celebrate / destress / have fun).
I listened to This Naked Mind on audiobook which was great for explaining the reasons behind drinking but I really need to get hold of a copy and read it properly as I wasn't always concentrating and I know I missed parts.

25/27 for me today please.
After a Retreat on Friday evening and daytime Saturday where I gave two talks, I "thought" I deserved a glass of red. I dismissed that thought - go me!What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?5 -

I agree, and also I think a lot of the battle is how people deal with the lapses - the crucial thing is to be able to pick yourself up and keep going, not think the lapses are a sign of failure and start mentally drifting away. There are always lapses, it's normal, you're doing really well xxRobM99 said:
