  • Gosh, just realised that it’s the 7th Jan and every day this month (year!) so far has been a NSD. That’s totally unheard of for me, I wonder how long I can keep that going for!!

Well done ..I have had three out of seven and hoping for at least three again this week
  • Thanks @try_harder unfortunately my run of NSDs came to an end today. A vets bill arrived in the post which I had forgotten all about. A trip to the vet on Christmas Eve resulting in some drugs and a new flea collar for the cat, the cost was £205 😩

  • Great start SP!

Re. bank accounts, I like to see how other households divide their money, we have
Bills account which we move the total monthly bills money to at the start of the month and don't have a debit card for it.
DH gets paid weekly so I move money to save to my account
Left over in DH's account to be spent on weekly outgoings
& a savings account for our emergency pot

Cor blimey that's an expensive cat!

That sure is one very hefty bill !!
  • Thanks @Elephantchunks I’ve not cracked the account thing yet, and agree it’s useful to see what others do.
As for the expensive cat, I couldn’t believe how much the bill was. I’ve not even told DH, it’s an old cat who is a bit incontinent. DH keeps suggesting it should be put to sleep, I don’t want to give him any more justification for that 😂

  • More spends today. I’ve been getting a sore foot, possibly plantar fasciitis. I’m thinking it might be due to wearing incredibly flat slippers all day now I’m at home. So I’ve ordered some with an inbuilt arch support and an orthopaedic heel. Guess I could have worn shoes indoors to save money, but these slippers will hopefully be warmer too.

good luck with all your challenges - all very relatable, except I am at the other end of mortgage journey, and I can reassure you that your future self will be give your "now"-self high-fives for tackling this.  I'm still trying to shave a couple of years off my MF date to 2023, but at this end of the journey its mainly capital anyway, so whilst that's good y chance to save the interest was lost 10 years ago.  I'll stay along for the journey if I may - 2029 isn't that far away now, is it??

  • Wow thats a lot of NSDs, well done.  To be fair I don't spend much on work days, so maybe I should start counting them to remind myself I'm not so bad on that front.  We also have a cat but he's only 7 so hopefully won't cost us much for a few years yet!
