Early settlements and credit file

Options
Hi, i have currently stopped paying 2 months ago my debtors in my DMP with stepchange. I am awaiting CCA's which cannot be found at this stage. I have 5 debts in total, 2 of them have dropped of my credit file and i can no longer see them as they are 6 1/2 years old.
If i offer early settlements to the other debts and part settle them what happens gpoing forward with my credit file? all these debts have defaults that will drop off in May 21. Am i right in thinking if i settle at a lower amount it will flag as partially settled then drop off at the 6 year point so nobody will see it anyway? I want a new mortage so i want my credit file clean as of May 21 i have no other debts.

thank you

  • They'll be marked as satisfied/settled and drop off your file 6 years from default.

I informed all debts 3 months ago my job role was changing and i was unable to pay but they weren't interested they all said i can pay £1 a month not sure why this would be

If they can't provide the paperwork then they are unenforceable so up to you if you pay or not.  Either way they will drop off your file in May 2021 and can't be put back on.

I am going to ride it out and see if i get offered low settlements. If i could settle the £7000 for £2000 i would borrow the money off a family member and clear it. I may just completely ignore it all i cannot see what they can do i am sure they wont give me CCJ's when i owe a average of £1300 per debt.

They cannot go to court and get a CCJ until they can produce the paperwork!  They will offer low settlements as it is the only way they will get any money until they produce the paperwork, but why get into debt with family for something you don't have to?
