VW gas boot strut mount snapped and boot latch not opening

Any mechanic in the Castlereagh area be able to fix browkn boot strut mount and the boot latch not opening on a MK5 Golf?

    If the strut mount has pulled right out its gonna be difficult to repair. Welding will be messy and damage the paint. 
    I'd show it to any local mechanic handy to you just to see what he thinks.
    Not often the latch gives problems but that will need fixing just to get a look see at the strut mount.
    And yes a rivet nut might be the solution. 
  • Nowhere open ‘too the 4th. Apparently the strut was quality issue and known by VW and customers. Hopefully it won’t cost too much. Apparently a rivnut may work.

    Is the above problem similar to yours? 
    Similar thing happened to me but  managed to save the situation luckily.
    The struts themselves are cheap enough and easy to replace.
    Yes a rivet nut might be the solution.
