Shared Ownership - What to do?

I am looking at Simultaneous Staircasing and Assignment of my shared ownership property and wondered if anyone has any experience of this please? I have only just been made aware of this option, having already paid the housing association fee and for a valuation to extend the lease. However, the Simultaneous Staircasing now seems the better option but I am trying to find out if there are any pitfalls. I own a 25% share.
