@florianatwobob Good! There’s no call for comments like that to someone you’re not romantically associated with.I must give off very distinct “Don’t mess with me” vibes at this point. Or I’m just not as cute as I once was.2023 Fashion on the Ration: Start with 66. Nightdress - 6 = 60 remaining.6

I've always been baffled by the concept of "F- me shoes", whether that's "follow me" or otherwise...
I wear my clothes and shoes for me, and I always have done. I don't really understand why shoes, or clothes, would be assumed to be a coded signal to men... a bit weird, when you think about it, isn't it? I mean I know sometimes clothes *have* been secret codes - certainly some banned political groups in history wore certain clothes to indicate to each other that "I'm one of that group!" and I remember the "one gold ring in the left earlobe" being widely regarded as a not-very-secret signal that the man was gay, and I've been told there was a whole complex coding system of coloured bootlaces in the 1980s London gay scene, but the F- Me Shoes thing is... it's kind of meat-market attitude, isn't it? Shop-windows for lecherous men...
Well, back in 1942, we just have to wear whatever shoes will keep out this rain - is everyone doing okay with today's heavy rain and wild stormy winds?
I made some fudge yesterday to use up some double cream, and it was only when I had made it that I realised the sheer quantity of the stuff - two pounds of vanilla cream fudge! Do help yourself... it's delicious...2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

@TwibbleDee I’m sure you’re still cute.@Laura_Elsewhere I wore my shoes for me and when he said it it just made me laugh because he was all talk and he knew it. I was working in Financial Services at the time and there was a lot of ahhhhh, um….. swagger…..shall we say…. It was a bit of an ‘old boys club too’.Yes 1942 would have been whatever footwear was available.✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

Another fan of your shoes here, @florianatwobob - they're fabulous! And persons of the chauvinist persuasion just need to stop viewing any items of clothing or even entire outfits as any kind of invitation, end of. (Except possibly to mention that they're increasing the risk of catching cold or breaking an ankle, if they happen to be the wearer's father.)

1 cardigan for MIL (moving into a care home, they don't allow her beloved cashmere cardi's 'on health grounds') - 5 coupons
1 pr slippers for OH - 5 coupons
3 m fleece (to replace the aforementioned cashmere cardi's) - 2 coupons per metre, so 6 coupons
So that's 16 coupons spent.
It's very kind of you to donate your coupons to your MIL, instead of raiding hers.

I don't mind donating my coupons, I have had more than enough items from her through the years.2024 Fashion on the Ration - 10/66 coupons used

Laura_Elsewhere said:@Gem-gem - no coupons needed for repairs - re-soling is excellent!
I wonder if Russell & Bromley would re-sole the knee-high riding boots I still have, bought from them in about 1994... come to that a pair of little flat lace-up ankle-boots from earlier in the 1990s...
I hope that my boots from them last that long. My mum is still wearing long boots that she bought my sister about 30 years ago. That is what I call value for money.2025 Fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons

Having worked in engineering and construction for the last 22 years, I’ve also been on the receiving end of a few of “those type of remarks”. It’s one thing, if it comes from someone you like and trust - like the Project Controls Manager, who inadvertently remarked “You’ve got legs!” when I turned up at the site Christmas Party in a dress (he then realised what he’d said and blushed)- and another when it’s a remark made by someone who gives you the creeps.
In the latter case, he was inflicted on our project for several months as “Project Director”, and initially stayed at the same hotel as me and several colleagues. As a team, we’d always have our evening meal together but, after the first evening with him on my own, I ate in my room if he was the only one around. I had a quiet word with reception about him, so they kept an eye out for me. (It was a family run hotel and he took a dislike to them after they refused to keep the bar open after 11pm. He only stayed there 2 weeks before going somewhere else.).
Beyond him, I. always felt safe when working at Site or in the highway depot. Nobody treated me differently to the way they’d treat another man, beyond the occasional double-take when I was walking Site booted and suited in my high viz. (I did once acquire 12 big brothers when some bloke was stupid enough to try to chat me up at the bar, when we’d all gone out for a birthday drink. He backed off quickly.)Wraithlady said:PipneyJane said:Wraithlady said:More coupons used:

It ain’t what you do, it’s the way that you do it - that’s what gets results!
