The jumper looks great @Cherryfudge, well worth all your time spent sorting it out.The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)8

Cherryfudge said:I’ve been knitting and have finally finished the jumper I needed advice on long ago, possibly last spring. This started off as cable stitch but I used a different wool which was too dark and fuzzy so I knitted it in stocking stitch. When I’d nearly finished the front I realised I wasn’t going to have enough yarn despite buying the right weight. It was after talking it through with you all that I discovered that 100g chunky in one brand can be 150m and in another, more like 200m. There followed an online hunt in which I discovered that yarn bought 6 years ago is still obtainable but not in the colour I needed. Then came the saga of how to add it in and I’m afraid I went against advice and did vertical stripes, so it would look as though I intended it (🤣). It took ages, but I’m relieved to say DH likes it and it fits him… and there is the tiniest ball - 3g! - left of the original yarn.

Girls, I have a difficult question for you to answer - does anyone know of a charity which takes yarn and volunteers knit it up into things? Preferably somewhere in the South East of England.
I may have mentioned that I have a friend with dementia, who used to be a knitter. (Knitting was one of the first things to go.) She's deteriorated so much in the last 2 years that she's now been placed into a care home and her husband is clearing out her stash. He wants it to go somewhere useful.
Many thanks.

Can I join in with the chorus, too- @Cherryfudge, that jumper looks superb and nobody would *ever* guess it wasn't designed from the start like that. And seconding Pip's comment re: the even changes of colour - my intarsia stitches pull horribly, but you have one heck of a talent there. I'm envious...2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:
