@wit40iwtwan If my experience of water sports is anything to go by a wetsuit will definitely be required, even on the warmest of days once you get wet it can be very chilly. Mind I was wind surfing and you do need the wind for that to work
. I have a friend who windsurfs when windy and paddle boards when calm but she always wears a wetsuit, she has a shortie suit for when it's warmer. Mind we are talking about the Mersey estuary area so basically the north Atlantic rolling up the Irish sea, but I have found lakes to be just as cold. You can get wetsuits second hand but beware of their condition but they do last ages so if it's something you are sure you are going to do regularly they are a good investment.

wit40iwtwan said:My next UFO in terms of age is only from 2017 mind you... the Scheepjes CAL Hygge shawl... I am on week 10 of 14! I know so close.... I will not list the rest of my UFO's as it is rather embarrassing ... at last count I think there were 38 (ducks out to go sit in the naughty corner)
Only 38 UFOS?Not too bad at all. I have various embroideries, the 2 jumpers, a couple of old jumpers needing fixing, an unknown amount of small mends (not too bad at present) and a lot of what a friend called 'wonderful ifs', which in my case is patterns I'd like to make one day.
Do you have a bullet journal page for UFOs? I was thinking of adding one. Thought about it a few times but I'm not sure if it might not end up discouraging me.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Last year I decided to list my UFOs/projects and then put them in order of how much I wanted to finish them. Anything over 20 I had a long hard look at, and I was able to see that there was some things I had just lost interest in. They were donated, or the constituent parts were. I did manage to clear a couple, mostly because there was a deadline (my niece’s due date). I still have a list of 15 and as I seem to have lost my Mojo for both knitting and sewing, the list hasn’t gone down much recently. I did find this helpful though in working out what I really wanted to finish and what I could part with.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. @wit40iwtwan I think you could add the fair isle hats and the socks to your BUJO page as you have, after all, made them.
My user name came from having once made cherry fudge for my Mum, who enjoyed it. I'd never though it was an ice cream but it definitely should be. ( @CAFCGirl have you tried Brymor ice cream yet? It's a local institution).
I really ought to face up to my embroideries: there's a nursery cross stitch of geese in bonnets which is cute but my kids are a bit old for it - I might finish it for a grandchild eventually! There's another cross stitch of an Elizabethan couple with the quotation 'Journeys end in lovers' meeting' which was a wedding present from DH (33 years ago!): it's quite large and I went one stitch out of true but try as I might I haven't been able to put that right and I'm worried that it will be enough to make the whole thing a bit wrong... there's a strawberry sampler which is well under way and has been since early this century, there are two greetings' cards and a tiny flower embroidery that are all started but not finished, a Christmas table cloth that I'm not allowing myself to start till I've finished something else, a sampler that I fell for years ago and haven't started (until I've finished something else) and a beautiful panel of two deer in a winter woodland that I haven't started (until I've finished something else).
Nine embroideries, then.
Two jumpers to knit. Two jumpers to recommission. Oh, and a toddler's outfit that I started for DS who's now 30!
Thirteen items so far then... I think the grey and red jumper could take till September at my current rate but the blue one is the sort of thing I can knit when I'm tired so that's sneaking in quite a lot of progress. I don't know about the others. It's a case of plan, what plan? I'm inclined to the strawberries, but not tonight.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Yarn bombing, I love the post box toppers, our local post office has had toppers for the last 3 years at least, the Christmas and Easter ones are especially lovely. The fb page, random acts of crochet kindness has many pictures from all over the country and there are even pictures of them on the post office website. They are not allowed in the USA as it is deemed to be interfering with the mail but many of the fb page followers from the USA love them. The first time I saw yarn bombing was about 7 years ago in Upper Parliament Street, for anyone who knows Liverpool. They decorated many of the tree trunks and lamp posts etc. near the afro carribean centre and in a very urban grey environment they brought so much colour, I loved them and think of them as street art. People have also been leaving little crochet flowers, hearts, rainbows etc around different places during lockdown for children to find, usually in little clear bags and a note saying "I am not lost, just alone. If you like me take me home" I love this as well, these things have brought joy to many people in a difficult time. I understand your point Laura about making useful things for anyone who needs them but people do those things as well by knitting for shelters and food banks etc and I know several people who make things for the prem baby unit in our local hospital.
Re crochet patterns I must confess to always having struggled with them. My Mum was a brilliant knitter and taught me at a young age to read a pattern. She also taught me to crochet but never used a pattern, just somehow knew what to do, so I never even saw a pattern until a few years ago. I keep trying but I think the chart system will probably be my best bet as my brain seems to work well with visuals, though I still do love a u tube video11 -
@Cherryfudge
I had one lot from Dolci is it?
All a bit instagram picturesque in there. I went White chocolate honeycomb.... couldn't really taste the white chocolate disappointingly. Will endeavor, for the purposes of scientific research obviously, to try more. Ive already got the coffee mocha in mind.
I managed to find a semi ball of black to start on the next big loom knit project, so I have finally swatched! Only took me 2 attempts to figure the right size. I will attempt to figure out an equation of rows/pegs to cm's once I've nailed the project. These are the colour required in smallest number of squares (5 in black) so I'll also be able to calculate grams per square and how much yarn I need to order of the remaining colours. Will keep me occupied and out of the sun at least (darn you sunlight allergy!)Wealth is not measured by currency8 -
Have a spend of coupons to declare - had to buy a ball of wool to finish the bolero I'm doing (100g so 2 coupons) and somehow accidentally ordered 3 balls of multicoloured 4-ply wool at the same time - so that's another 6.

For further scientific research, and if you fancy a trip to the back of beyond with gorgeous scenery, Brymor has a lot of varieties and you can eat indoors, or at least you could last time I went. It will be busy this week though.
Sorry to hear about the sunlight allergy, you are the second person I've come across with this and I imagine it's pretty massive.
My UFO list grew to 21 when I started trying to find the items I remembered but I've donated one to a friend so that's around a 5% decrease already. Didn't I do well?
@Wraithlady, what's the bolero like?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

No no no - 89 posts to catch up with! Been very busy between business and the allotment, and somehow just not kept up with you all in the evenings. So busy, I haven't even managed to spend any coupons despite actually needing some new underwear & walking boots! Though I have picked up a couple of 50p items from the recycling warehouse to make some "new" knickers, but there's no way I can do that for a bra... Off for a bit of a catch-up, see you all soon...Angie - GC Aug25: £374.16/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)8
