Brexit implications of pensions earned whilst working in the EU

Hi
I was resident and worked in the Netherlands for over 16 years returning to the UK in 2018. I accrued works pensions with dutch pension providers and also contributed towards the dutch state pension scheme.
Will my entitlement to claim these at retirement in 7 years be affected by Brexit?

Accrued pension entitlements are not dependent on nationality.

How much & when you can claim your pension in EU states may be not as simple as the UK state pension which is paid at a fixed rate proportional to the number of years contributed. I only know the French system but that involves multiple earnings related schemes where the amount paid is dependent on the number of years contributed & the level of contributions. The pensions will be paid at full amount earned at age 67 but can be claimed at a reduced rate from age 62 onward at a reduced rate but in full if you have contributed for 165 quarters (trimestres) ie 40 years 3 months. Under EU social security coordination rules years contributed in other states are counted when calculating those 165 trimestres. Adding my years of NI contributions in the UK to my French trimestres I was able to claim my full French pension aged 63 instead of waiting to age 67. I believe that mutual recognition of contributions in this way is part of the UK-EU trade deal but haven't checked. This is only right so that those who have made plans for retirement under current rules don't find themselves out of pocket.Brynsam said:Accrued pension entitlements are not dependent on nationality.1
