My National Insurance changes some times-even though same hours worked each month. Not dramatic changes but wondering what could be causing this/

And is your gross pay the same? Do you have variable pension contributions deducted? Are you paid for a month or for 4 weeks? Any other variable deductions?0

If the gross £ in each pay packet are the same then the NI should be the same. Some software bases NI on £4 pay increments so a couple of p difference in pay could mean a 48p difference in NI.

NI should only change if the gross figure that NI is due on changes ( apart from once a year when the bands for NI are changed) but tax is different and can change by 20p (more if in a higher tax band). Is it possible that the change you are seeing is tax rather than NI?0

Sent HMRC an email- well had to be a complaint as they don't seem to do email. As for asking payroll- my line manager doesn't know the basics of employment law as demonstrated numerous times0

You do realise HMRC don't calculate or deduct your NIC? Unless you work for HMRC.Sent HMRC an email- well had to be a complaint as they don't seem to do email. As for asking payroll- my line manager doesn't know the basics of employment law as demonstrated numerous times
You would make much more progress if you provided us with the figures from some payslips.
There are some very knowledgeable people answering posts on here and you have already had responses from a couple who more often than not can explain exactly what has happened once the facts are available.2 -
Unless your line manager actually does the payroll, their grasp of employment law is irrelevant to your question. Any payroll provider should be able to explain.Buzzard1985 said:Sent HMRC an email- well had to be a complaint as they don't seem to do email.
