This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Morning folks.Think I've caught up with my lost sleep now. Seems that I fell asleep almost immediately when I closed my eyes last night.Yesterday I took away all the empty jars and a bin bag of the contents. Glasgow has food waste bins so all the contents of the jars went there. It's lovely to open the cupboard and not be faced with a jumble of unknown stuffWhen I got back I dug out the Christmas tree and decorations, it's an artificial one which sits on a table. Whilst I was dressing the tree some of the baubles took me back to my childhood, especially the angel for the top. I've got a photo of Christmas Day 1966 with the same angel on. So DM's habit of keeping things for a long time doesn't just extend to food.Today I'm off shopping. I'm sure that the shops will be rammed so it won't be too pleasant. There's not much needed. The Christmas food is ordered for next Wednesday and Thursday, just need to remember to buy that blessed Bramley for the red cabbage.Later on I'll be plonked in front of the TV watching the Strictly final.Huge hugs to Bella. ❤️ Please take some time for yourself, your beloved Mum will still live in your heart.I hope that all the poorlies are getting better and wish everyone a happy Saturday.12

Bella - so sorry to read your news, but hope you can take some comfort that you and your lovely family were able to be with your mum and that she is no longer suffering and has found a tranquil and pain free peace x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Yesterday was busy but I got everything I'd planned to done. Just a few jobs to do today.

Good morning, still dark here. My husband has just got up and is making me some tea.
Bellabella I can see that we posted at the same time yesterday so it is just now that I read your post on yesterday's thread. I am so sorry.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back12 -

O come ye, O come ye, to Bethlehem
Come and behold Him

O come, let us adore Him

O come, let us adore Him
Christ the Lord!Morning
bella I'm so sorry about your mum. I'm glad you were able to be with her xx
Today will mostly involve flinging wrapping paper and tape about, and faffing with poinsettias to get them looking exactly right. I expect tomorrow's post will say the same as today's, lol.

Morning all
Dry and bright here for now but with a strong wind, OH is at the boot sale and dd and I are sat with a cuppa will get some breakfast after this.
DD and OH are going to collect the click and collect later today but Mr T has emailed to say that the cheese footballs, twiglets and tin of sweets are out of stock, I cant have Christmas without cheese footballs !!! so we will have to go on a search for some !!
All went well at the hosp yesterday dressings changed and still healing slowly, best news ever is that my oncotype score came back low so I wont be needing chemo which is such a reliefI am so pleased, OH bought us an indian last night to celebrate and although I only managed a little bit it was really tasty.
Chips and a mixture of things for dinner tonight to clear a bit of room in the freezer, I will ask dd to clean the fridge out later ready for the xmas food.
Bella I have been thinking of you all night I hope you managed to get some sleep, sending love xx
Have good days all xx12 -
Morning all.
I've heard this evil rumour that Christmas is on Dec25th this year. Why did no one tell me? I'll never be ready in time.
Bella, I was so sorry to hear your news. It must be some comfort that you were with her at the end and that she was so peaceful. Sad that it should have happened just now and that Christmas will hold sad memories for you. Lots of love.
Thanks for the carol tru, we used to sing it in Latin when I was at school and I can still do that. Adeste Fidelis anyone?
Minus the poinsettias and plus getting the last cards in the post and making a start on Christmas cooking, (why did I think it a good idea to make marmalade and biscuits as presents this year?) my day will be much as yours.
Let battle commence!I believe that friends are quiet angels

Morning all! Sunny today, what a relief. It really does perk me up when it's sunny even if it's cold. Next door the other way is trying to sell one of his cars so he's tinkering with it and making sure it works. Yesterday was a day of doings. Went to the tip, such a joy to go there now with the covid appointment system in place, there's no queueing, it's straight in and out. There was only one other car there when I rocked up. After that, grocery shop for bits missing, then into the coronavirus soup land of the town center to get cards. After that, home, write them and then to the post office to post them. Doing that really brought home to me how bloody creaky I've gotten. I had a two hour nap and then went to bed and slept for eight hours [sorry to those not sleeping, I'm not rubbing it in honest!] after that.I love coming downstairs and smelling the pine from the tree. It hasn't been attacked by the cats yet, phew! It cheers me up the same as reading tru's carols...thank you tru
Today I have no realy plans, I've unearthered a stash of wool I bought at the beginning of lockdown, I'm thinking of making a lapblanket with it but I want to learn to crochet to do it. OOps,just ordered myself a nice big one, the wool is very very chunky.
Ruby, such great news! Woop woop! Bela, wishing you fortitude for what lies ahead. Gers, they did trialfood waste bins here but they haven't implemented them town wide yet. Ill look forward to that. There's very little in our normal bin and some of that is always something that's gone off [ bad planning, I know!] Hope everyone has some sun today,Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi12 -
Morning all, it's a better day with only showers to contend with.Today I'm having another day at the office, that's probably the first time I've ever said that, I've never worked in one as it wasn't my type of calling. I tidied and dusted in there yesterday and now I have to sort out some paperwork, old bank statements etc and start shredding. I will also fill up the bird feeder as they've emptied it again, they must be either very hungry or too lazy to get their own out in the wild.I may have to hold the ladder later while Mr Fix It tightens down the shed roof, all that wind yesterday has loosened a few screws. I wish someone could do that for me, I think have quite a few loose ones myselfWell I suppose I'd better get to that office, don't want to be late or I'll get sacked !!RedRuby that's good news on the oncology front. Yay !!Bella thinking of you and yours and I hope you all managed some sleep last night.Gers I think your Mum is the mother of all things MSE old school, and not really a hoarderTru I love that carol, thank you for entertaining us throughout December.Monna how posh. I didn't sing in Latin, they'd obviously heard my singing voice, but did the chant Amo, amas, amat, amamus, amatis, amant and strangely still remember it. It's something that's come in handy numerous timesTake care all, stay safe and keep wellnan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently12

Afternoon everyone - just been having a catchup of the last couple of days and wanted to add my best wishes to Bella - take care of yourself x8

Afternoon folks. Thanks GERS for starting us off and thanks to TRU for the carol and MONNA I also sang Adeste Fidelis at school - not mentioning any numbers but it must be people over a certain age methinks! I have been thinking of BELLA at a particularly sad time for her and the family. But good news for RUBY with the news of no chemo needed.
I am late to the party today but better late than never! I got the first bus into town and thought, blow it, it's a nice day so I'll get the bus along to the next town for a change, I didn't want much as I have a big order being delivered tomorrow but there are certain things I would rather chose for myself! Bananas and cherry tomatoes being examples! I don't like getting foisted off with stuff almost ready for the bin! They have a little outdoor market there on a Saturday with a lovely F & V stall where u can chose at leisure. I also popped in the little sm and got my treats for Strictly watching! As it's extended for the final tonight I treat myself to extra goodies - a bag of sweeties and a bag of choccies as well!
I just got back home to a text from DS wanting to do a doorstep swap of Xmas pressies. As by then it was threateniing rain we had a quick rendevous in the garage instead! I then updated my order for tomorrow, followed by lunch has now been eaten and enjoyed. It's a feet up afternoon for me now with a bit of tv watching. Have a good rest of the day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Thinking especially of BELLA. Take care folks and stay safe x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"10
