DaveMcG said:You aren't allowed to do that - don't you think that I would have immediately tried to correct the wrong info?As I said, you haven't completed the form, so prob best to stop making comments about it.
HMRC know otherwise but we maybe best agree to disagree.

I repeat you haven't completed the form and you don't know what you are talking about. The process starts with a section entitled "information we have about you" or something similar. This drives the questions that are to be answered in the form. It is not permissible to change that information ( leads to an error message) and therefore not possible to alter the form.0

From memory the only way to pay class 2 NI is through a self assesment form. Income under 1K is allowed without becoming self employed. I remember struggling with the online form as the option to pay was via a dropdown list not visible without answering the right question. Look for a "Do you want to pay voluntary class 2 contributions" question.Edit, You're not alone, this might help. Good luck.

There are self-employment pages in the online form, you check the box number 2 in the "What makes up your tax return" section. You don't have to do this if you earn less than £1,000 but if you want to pay voluntary class 2 NIC then you need to say "yes" in this section because the option to pay it is in those pages which appear in the return if you say yes.
My wife has just been through this. She earned less than 1,000 so initially said "no" at the start of the return but then didn't get the self-employment pages. She changed it to "yes" and there they were.1 -
Many thanks for all your replies , just managed to get a fab adviser at HMRC who talked me through the whole form ! OldMusicGuy your wife was correct & that was seemingly the problem by putting in 'Yes' on the turnover page it bought up the option re paying class 2 NIC ..so thanks for that & form duly submitted .. adviser did admit the form is misleading in parts !!0
