Is this workout routine any good?

Sounds like a decent routine. You're hitting all the major muscle groups, plus getting some cardio in. What's your rest schedule like? Remember you have to take days off in order to fully recover. And you're right, diet is a big part of it, especially if you're trying to shed some pounds, but keep in mind that you're burning more calories now so just make sure you're taking in quality food and not just less of what you normally eat.0

Some of the comments here. Dear me. Makes me wonder what people who look at my posts about investments must feel.
- you are correct, to lose bodyfat you need to be a calorie deficit. To achieve it's from input (your food) and output (what you burn).
- resistance training is FAR more effective at burning bodyfat than steady state cardio. Slow cardio is the bane of my life as an online coach and personal trainer. Fine if you enjoy it, but i saw a comment in this thread that said 'weight training doesn't burn much bodyfat' and just hurt myself facepalming. If we want optimal for fat burning - make resistance exercise the basis of your training with a little cardio here and there as you desire.
I never thought when i signed up as a member i would be talking about this stuff, but if anyone wants any information, feel free to either DM me on here or follow me on insta marcus_warner - i am always happy to provide some guidance wherever i can.

Rye93_2 said:Hi,
I've started going back to the gym after many months due to lockdown. Trying to get the belly and moobs off. I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to fitness, but I have been doing a certain routine and just wanted to see if this is sensible.
One day, I will lift weights for my arms and shoulders (machine weights instead of free weights). I would do around 5-6 sets of 8 reps on a weight that's comftable, but also a challenge. Once that's done, I go onto the cross trainer for around 40 minutes and increase the difficulty every 10 minutes.
This is pretty much the same when I go aside from arms one day, legs another and chest and back another and the same cardio.
Is this an ok routine do you think? I'm really just looking to lose a little weight, not bulk up or anything.
I understand that 80% of working out is diet so I have been improving on this.
Just wondering what thoughts people had about the routine.
Thanks.

A PT should look at you as an individual and will work out a plan based on your details (height, weight, age, lifestyle, goals, motivation, exercise preferences etc) and hopefully will also review your current diet (this is something I always did with my clients) to be able to advise you on your food choices also. Weight training and/or resistance training are great choices and certainly help with fat burning (more so than cardio) but the types of food and quantities being eaten play a massive part too. There is no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to working out, there’s lot of different factors which can play a part in determine your ideal plan.
best of luck!0
