Marston lost my payment

Hello, In Dec 2019 I paid off my water debt and Marstons have been chasing me ever since for the money as they cant find it.
I have sent them all the proofs they have asked for but still they are saying they cant find it. Now telling me to pay again, (which I won't of course)
Yesterday a really horrible woman phoned and threatened goods removal.
I dont know what more I can do. Any advice gratefully accepted. Thanks

OK, Marstons are bailiffs, and also debt collectors. Is there a ccj on this?
You need to go back to the water company and see if you can persuade them that you paid it
Should this be a bailiff matter, you need to know that if they turn up you should only talk to them through a window or letterbox and obvs don't leave external doors unlocked.
The key here is to get things sorted with the water company. If necessary involve ofwat

Have you asked your bank for confirmation of the account number and sort code the payment was made to, and also that the payment wasn't returned?
Have you confirmed the reference that was included on the payment?
Have you checked your bank statement to confirm that the payment wasn't returned?
Have Marson's confirmed that you used the correct account number & sort code? You can ask the Water Company to put your case on hold while you’re sending in your evidence and they look into your case. It's best to send copies of your documents not the originals. You should send letters by recorded delivery and send copies to the bailiff company.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0 -
Yes to checking with my bank. As I paid using Marstons phone payment and my card the bank don't have a sort code & acc. They have provided proof its not come back in and given me ARN code, I have sent statements 3 times and I have an authorisation code.
There is no ccj on it and the water board say its out of their hands and wont say if its still owing.
I might try ofwat.0 -
If there's no ccj then they are just acting as collectors so you can add into the mix a complaint about the nasty women threatening to remove goods. Send it in writing to Marstons and ask for it to be investigated.
You should also let the water company know how their collector is behaving and remind them that it is their debt and their collector. Actually ofwat might be a good shout here but you will have to make a formal complaint to the water company first and let them investigate.2 -
Agree with above advice, who would have though eh, a bailiff attempting to abuse their authority by telling lies.Marstons have a reputation for, lets say, twisting the truth slightly.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
