Repayment of Loan during Divorce proceedings
Hopefully I am in the right place. I would be grateful for any advice you could give me.
I have been separated from my husband for almost 3 years. The nature of the split meant I was too scared to initiative divorce proceedings for fear of prodding the hornets nest but I would now like to go ahead and make the split permanent.
In 2011, prior to our marriage, I loaned my ex a total of £28,000 to firstly stop the repossession of a house he owned with his previous partner and secondly to complete a renovation project on another house so he could sell it. We had a verbal agreement that when the renovated house was sold, he would repay the money. Of course he never did when it sold in 2018. I do have records of the money being transferred from my account to his and also, in the case of the other property, I have a copy of the mortgage account where the transactions from my account to that account are clear.
Would I stand any chance of getting the money back through divorce proceedings, or should I kiss goodbye to it now? He has his own property that he bought with the proceeds of the renovation and I have my own house that he has never contributed to.
Thanks for any advice you can offer.

If you can evidence it and/or he admits to it, then it can be factored into the settlement. If not, it will be difficult.0
