Hi, I’ve been working at the same company for 21 years and was made ‘seasonal permanent’ 10 years ago after being on regular fixed term contracts. However, I’m confused as to why I’m ‘seasonal’ as I work from late March/early April until mid December. I’m now not being furloughed as I don’t normally work at this time of year. As I’m employed can I apply for any benefits? Also, does ‘seasonal permanent’ exist anywhere else?
Thanks

So you sign a 9 month contract each year or you have a continuous contract but happen to only work for 9 months of the year?2

Not clear what the arrangement is or the problem
Why is this an issue
Is it just the weeks you don't normally work?
if you normally don't work these weeks why do you need benefits this year.
If they have you work 9 months but spread the wages they probably should be still paying you2 -
I have a continuous contract and my dates vary year to year. I only get paid for the months I work so my wages are not spread out. With being furloughed for the summer and having a 20% pay cut when I’ve been able to work, and also not receiving any overtime or extra payments, I’m about 35% down on what I normally earn. My main issue is that I’m not being furloughed even though I’m employed, so I don’t have any source of income until I return to work, possibly late March at the earliest. It’s a weird situation that doesn’t make sense, so I was hoping someone out there might. Thanks for your replies
