Wages unpaid

Hi
My partner has been a self employed sparks for 30 years.
After being furloughed as a sub contracted he was contacted by a new company and they asked him for an interview, basically head hunted.
Anyways they asked him to work for them as an employee rather than a subby and what with the current climate he agreed.
However after ridiculous demands and unethical ways of operating he has given his notice and left, returning all property to the company - van, tools uniform etc.
He then checked his pay and found it was over £200 short as the overtime was paid at normal rate even though the contact states it would be at time and a half.
He has emailed the company and they are now ignoring him.
He's due to be paid again around the 26th for this last month but he thinks he won't get anything. I've told him to wait to see but its really frustrating.
Due to the furlough he wasn't taxed last month so should they still provide a P45?
The guy he worked for had started complaining about him saying he swears all the time and customers complained which isn't true and bad mouthed him to the other workers once he'd handed his notice in.
Unfortunately it appears to be a pattern since leaving he's found the last few that left were also slandered by him.
As he was employed what avenue should he take to get what he is owed?
Any advice gratefully appreciated.
Thanks 🙂

For the moment I’d wait until his next lot of pay is due to see if he receives it and if he gets the extra overtime included. If he doesn’t receive it then send them a letter before action giving them 14 days to pay and if they don’t take them to the small claims court.
