  • I have lived in my current house in a rural village for 26 months and had solar panels for 21 months.  I have never yet had a meter reading or a request to read my meters, either the electricity meter or the one measuring solar panel output.  However my current electricity supplier, Symbio Energy, requires me to submit photographs of my electricity meter (I'm with Bulb for my FIT payments).

I don't think any of the FIT-payers are very keen on the 2 year inspections.  I've been with Scottish Power (only for FIT !) for nine years and only ever had two visits.

EDF have made appointments to read/check our generation meter every two years since the PV system was installed. They even agreed to change the dates of the 3 monthly readings, we provide, so that they matched the 1st April inflation increase.

SSE seem the exact opposite, same chap turns up in an SSE van every 6 months, reads the electricity meter and asks to see the generation meter. As it’s behind a chair in the spare room (don’t ask!) he’s more than happy with me reading the previous nights reading from my iPad app. (Actual meter reading, not the SolarEdge fantasy one) Been like that since late 2014. I do let him in to read it if it’s dry and he’s not got muddy boots!
