MandM90, we planted a cobnut tree about 5 or 6 years ago and have had increasingly good crops for the past 3 years, cobnuts are delicious! The tree hasn't grown too big, another thing in its favour. I would like a walnut tree, but they do get fairly huge.9

Nut trees, we have planted five chestnut trees, don't think they will fruit for many years. Also have apple, plum, cherry. We pick hazel nuts from wild trees. Mumtoomany.Frugal Living Challenge 2025.11

@MandM90 try latchooking or crochet, bot can be done in small bursts though you’ll need a tray or container for latch hooking, both can be bought in kits and both have YouTube tutorials. I started crochet with literally a 3 hook and a single ball of yarn!I paid off the remainder of my cc today, the scheduled payment came out and I paid the remaining £45 off, so now I’ll being paying hopefully the loan payment and an extra £45 into my savings to pay more off. I’m just waiting a couple of months before over paying until I’ve got my emergency fund to a better level. I don’t want to end up using the cc again.Asd@ is due soon, my oil has been substituted for rapeseed oil, I’ve never used it so that will be interesting! Has anyone tried it? If I wasn’t completely out I’d send it back.Life happens, live it well.9

Our walnut which is about 23 years old has only really produced nuts in the last 10 years. We also have to try to get to them before the squirrels.10

Wow this thread is moving so fast i can't keep up. Loving it though as i have something to read daily that really keeps me motivated.
I'm in the 3rd week of my £100 a week spend which includes groceries and all the other daily bits and bobs. Doing really well so far, lock down in actually helping I do think when its over I may have to increase the budget to £150 as with 2 kids they always need extra for clothes, projects and donations to school. Right now I have come under budget for two weeks and have managed to put away £67 pounds into a separate fund for when a £100 doesn't cover it. Trying to eat out of the freezer and cupboards as much as possible and spent around about £40 a week on fresh top ups. I would like to get this down further.
My second frugal goal is to put all extra money that comes in ( refunds, selling bits, survey money) straight on to the credit card even if its only a few pence. So far in the last two weeks I've put a whopping £237 onto the card! Got some good refunds back for unused chrismas items. Its amazing what little bits of money coming in can do.. a £3 here £8 there. Also any leftover money from the month will go on the cards. I'm determined to get rid!
I've got a huge frugal fail to report... My oven light bulb blew and i didn't want to spend £7 replacing it. However my hubs and i kept leaving it on after cooking as it's so quiet we didn't know it was on. The other day it was left on for 6 extra hours at 180!! Enough was enough....i bought the bulb....
