Thank you @AskYouWillGet and @StrawberrySuze x
i have pallet plans but need to clear the garden first. It’s a jungle! Or as I refer to it a bug hotel 😂
Going to budget review this weekend. Council tax and water bills have arrived 😬

Done some frugal future proofing yesterday. Sown loads of veg seeds and flower seeds. Probably done too many as usual but we can always eat the baby veg shoots if need be or try and sell the excess.Did splurge on a new book it’s called ‘the no waste vegetable cookbook’. Lots of good ideas how to use roots to shoots in cooking. Who knew tomato leaves are edible! Looking forward to trying to reduce our food waste even more. The hub stern went to the allotment and cut the hazel and willow rods right back. Hopefully we’ll now have plenty of bean canes and pea sticks.

We've used pallets to make a path round our semi-circlular greenhouse, leading into our wildlife area. Also made a large planter with it. I've seen people with walls made from pallets too & think they look really good. Would like to put one somewhere in our extension when we build it.
A mostly dry day here on our island yesterday, so I spent the morning outside. After moving soil, clearing bedding plants & planting some bulbs, I weeded around the Rhubarb & apple trees & mulched them with our home made compost. I felt very pleased with what I'd achieved. Might do around the pear trees this morning. Hubby also showed me all the seedlings he's got in the greenhouse, so fingers crossed we'll have lots of veg & flowers this year!
Food will not be much under the budget this month as had a couple of birthdays last week, so special tea was made. Managed to keep it under Jan & Feb & money saved went to overpay the mortgage. Hoping to save more again next monthUse it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

Thanks @apple_muncher, I love your name! It's been a tough few years and I wish I'd found the forum at the beginning instead of at the end as I felt very alone at times. But I'm here now and very happy to be learning from you all! From your signature it looks like you'll be mortgage free soon, an amazing achievement. I think I'll be renting forever. @the_cross_rabbit could you tell us what to do with tomato leaves? I've repotted my little seedlings this morning and would love to know for the future when they're big!11

Willow _ lou lou, if you don't like reheating jacket potatoes, how about the day after cooking removing the middles, mashing with cheese or any bacon and cheese, I do this by putting the potatoes middles and cheese in a bowl in micro whilst putting the potatoes skins under the grill to heat and crisp up , take the middles and mash up, then put back in the skins put grated cheese on top and popping back under grill. I often stick a couple of potatoes in the oven whilst it's on for other things , then use the potatoes the day after. May not be "totally healthy" but they taste good!
Otherwise use the mashed middle to put on a cottage pie, and just have crispy potato skins.
Pallets I've seen on pin interest used for beds! Tables and couches. As cladding on walls painted in differing shades, also used for shelves to put plant pots on outside.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.15 -
I do the same as wort with jacket potatoes but I put tuna in with the cheesy potato mix instead of bacon.8

We've used some pallets to make a large log store with an old shed door for the 'roof'. It dries it very well as they get a good draught through. We've been lucky this weekend, friends dropped off some jars of Apple, strawberry and BlackBerry jams and in return we sent them off with some blackcurrant. Makes a nice change for each of us, we get a taste of something different. I hope everyone has had a good weekend.11

@[Deleted User] pallet wall sounds great 😀 how did oh pull apart the pallets? I know you can get a special tool and I've sawn them apart before but looking for good ideas!
@Nonnadiluca they all sound great ideas, haven't thought of making a shed!
Great ideas everyone 🙂
I've done some batch cooking today, had some ys beef so made beef curry and beef stew/cobbler.
I've also done a bit of gardening; weeding and planted a rose and another bush that I got from Poundland, £1 each! Got to stain my trellis and still not planted my seeds! I have a plan for Easter, I have 5 days off in a row, can't wait 😊
Hope everyone had a good weekend, hopefully will be the last weekend as we know it!Lightbulb moment and house renovation debt 01.01.19 18500, 01.01.20 £11450, 01.01.21 £4980, 19.07.21 nil.
