I'm not going to bet against you, partly because I do wish you well in your investments and partly because although I think individual stock selection is a bad plan for most people I like his fund choice even less.ZingPowZing said:It's not over one year, Prism.
If you wish to back the financial services champion to overtake me on the 2nd anniversary, or an any threrafter, you are welcome to double down on his bet, up to a maximum of 15 years, whereupon your liability may exceed £ million.
My point really is that you seem pretty vocal that someone should not be using an IFA and yet I would use you as a good example of why someone should consider it (naming no names of course).0 -
If you are employing an IFA 0.5% sounds reasonable. Meanwhile back to the tangent.

If I were to bet on a less than 5 year performance, I would pick a few momentum stocks. Thats always going to be the best bet of market-beating returns. I would not invest my retirement like that. There is a sufficiently high chance of major losses in the long term to make it unappealing.0

Well it worked for those who followed jayash manek.....oh maybe not.1

How is £2700 reasonable for checking up on a portfolio? You have to remember that IFAs make portfolios complicated to justify their fees. There is no need for complicated portfolios. So they will put little bits in loads of funds so it looks like you could never manage it yourself.TBC15 said:If you are employing an IFA 0.5% sounds reasonable. Meanwhile back to the tangent.

To put it into perspective it's the price of a dental implant. A real professional doing complicated work. Checking a portfolio is totally incomparable.0

So........ got a list of IFAs who charge less than 0.5%. Always read the question.fred246 said:

I have already said that IFAs won't publish their fees. They don't want competition. The fees are agreed between the customer and IFA on an individual basis. It's time for customers to offer far less. £1350 to scan a list of investments? Still far too much.TBC15 said:
