Total change in jobs?

Hi Everyone,
I wanted to ask if anyone has anyone had experience in going from one job to a totally different field?
Currently I work in a customer service role and have done jobs like this for the past 9 years. However, I would much prefer to be outside come rain or shine all day doing a more manuel job. My only experience is customer service as since leaving college, this was the only option I really had. I'm good at what I do, but it's not something I enjoy and would much prefer a more manuel job.
Has anyone ever made such a drastic change with lack of experience and if so, how did you go about it and what kind of job would I be best looking for that's more hands on?
Any help, advice or experience would be great to hear.
Thanks

I haven’t changed careers myself but I did see a job advert the other day for trainee Openreach engineers which might fit the kind of thing you are looking for1

i did change career and i found it was very difficult as i had to learn a new career and employers looked for people with experience.
it is possible but you have to be patient and wait for the right opportunity.0 -
Would you enjoy getting wet at this time of year, out there in all weathers. Yep done a career change after 5 years to chase after a less well paying job when the girl's tone of voice offering the job seemed meek (should have known to run for the hills but alas I did not) and I had the pleasure of paying £44 for the pleasure of changing jobs for what was then a CRB check back in 2012, it did me wonders as a relative new driver but that was it. jeez even trying to leave a steady job of nearly a year now I feel really different (as if somehow I'm doing this to twist my current situation employers arm kind of thing, I can't shake it off, it is really quite weird as I certainly didn't feel this way in 2012 when the get out stakes were far lower but far reaching; consequence wise.) when I simply thought yeah I can do anything after few years stuck in a rut.0
