O/S Daily Tuesday 8 December 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Cold, foggy start to the day again.
DH up and getting ready for work, he'll be leaving in a while for work. DS1 still in his pit, he's on annual leave so enjoying a lie-in. DS2 settled and happy. Spent most of yesterday working in my coat as our office is so cold, I've put a vest top on under my blouse - hoping this will add some warmth.
Dinner last night was LO's - was all good. Tonight hairdresser is coming so dinner will be a late one, I'll put the meat in the oven when I get home and it can cook and be ready once hairdresser has finished. I'll make HM chips and I'll serve egg and salad with it.
Keep safe and well x

While shepherds watched
Their flocks by night
All seated on the ground
The angel of the Lord came down
And glory shone around
Morning
It was very foggy from about 5pm yesterday, it looked quite magical. From what I can tell - it's still dark! - we've gone back to a bit of mist this morning. It's been a bit misty for a few days, it's perfect for walking in and the house feels nice and cosy when I get back inside. My shopping 'trip' went well yesterday but Boots are only allowing two Soap & Glory sets to be ordered. I'll try for my third one on a separate order, if it's per customer and they keep a record of what's been bought (do they do that?), I'll have to go into town.I hope the poorlies are recovering well, I know I don't mention you individually but I am thinking of you xx

Morning All
Back to rain this morning but not foggy thank goodness, or icy like it was yesterday. The car park at work was like a skating rink yesterday, the janitor doesn't salt that, only a path from the gate to the door but it doesn't make much difference with the 6 grains of salt he uses - says he doesn't have much but didn't think of ordering it!
Work was quite busy yesterday, all the classes have put up a window display so I decided to join in, I've painted a reindeer on one window and Christmas trees and a polar bear on the other - just hope I can get the paint off!
Hope you're still relaxing and recovering Ruby, sounds like your family are looking after you well.
How's your mouth Gers?
Hugs to those in need.
Have a happy Tuesday, take care. XX13 -
Good morning, and thanks for starting NMLC.It's cold and wet here, not raining at the moment but has been.Yesterday was an ok day, I was glad to get my hair done, it looks much better.I nipped out for some Blu tack, and our main shopping street seemed really busy, I'm pleased for the shops, they've lost so much business this year during the long lockdown. Then it was just jobs around the house. I started to make a small felt stocking decoration, I'll finish that today, and that's about it, unless it brightens up a bit and we go for a walk. The other day DS in Oz sent a picture of their backyard thermometer showing 39 degrees, so I sent him a pic of ours showing zero, what a difference !! 39 is a bit hot for me, but he's used to it now, after nearly 20 years there.Anyway I'll stop waffling, and hope everyone has a good day, take care folks.13

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Hope it's a bit warmer for you today at work. No fog or ice here but it's blooming cold nevertheless!
Back to silly o'clock waking after my one good night's sleep. My face is still itching like mad and looking like a dried up old prune. The antihistamine don't seem to be working and I'm fed up. I can't seem to put my mind to anything other than comfort eating as a distraction..
I haven't given a thought to any festive trimming up yet. All my stuff is up in the loft and I need to ask DS or DD to climb up and pass it down to me before I can do it.. Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Take care one and all and stay safe x

Good morning everyone
It's not so cold here today as I am comfortable leaving the back door open for a bit to let the dogs out to the garden. I woke up at stupid o'clock again but managed a couple of hours sleep on the sofa so I don't feel too bad. I am about to warm up a couple of croissants for breakfast and those with a cup of tea will set me up for the day.
I had a bit of a temperature last night but thankfully it's back to normal this morning. I'll make sure to drink plenty of water today and just have a very restful day. The district nurse came yesterday and was very pleased with the way my leg is healing so that was great.
I'm expecting some more parcels today so tomorrow I will wrap them up. I also need to ask Steve to help me clear the dining room table as it is currently buried under loads of stuff and it would be nice to be able to see the wood again!
I think we are having a chicken and chorizo pie for dinner tonight. I will have to get the pastry out of the freezer in a bit for it. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Morning all, awake at daft o'clock again, mind you it didn't help that I needed the loo. Note to self "do not eat figs before bed" !! Sorry TMI
Today will consist of breakfast, sorting out the decs and the tree and putting them up, hot choc and mince pie, take the lights off the tree and putting them on once more, divorce, then lunch
Some people argue when decorating, others when putting up a caravan awning but not us, it's putting up the decorations and the tree. I want simple and elegant and Mr Fix It wants everything, everywhere and anywhere !! Never mind we're all still here and safe.Tea tonight will be sweet chilli chicken and noodles.Hugs to all today especially those who are poorly.Take care all, stay safe and keep well.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently13 -
Good morning and thank you for starting the thread nmlc, and thank you for the carol tru.
It is 1° here but the sky is a bit clearer than it was yesterday so it might feel fresher even if cold.
nmlc how horrible being cold at work - I'm at home and piling on layers of clothes. I stop when I can't move my arms. But we don't run heating right through the day, just for a bit morning and evening. (Mse bit)
Not sure what I'm doing today but I don't think it will involve much outside though if it does warm up, I might go for a short walk.
I stopped writing to go out with birdseed and it isn't as cold as I thought, I think I just got very cold before the short period of heating came on.
TA I meant to write this yesterday, I have a cosmetic allergy which means that I can react quite badly to scented products so very rarely wear makeup. I found that a very mild steroid cream was the only thing that really worked but I was warned that it should only be used for short periods. Possibly a last resort though. These days, it has calmed down and I'm ok as long as I'm careful, I use an aloe vera face wash from the b*dy shop, that's quite soothing and gentle.
Hope everyone has a good day and sending love to those of us who are unwell, recovering or worried.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back13 -
Good morning folks. Thanks for the tune today Tru
TA - sorry to hear that your face is still sore, I can only offer long distance sympathy.I've been busy online buying a few gifts. Normally I don't do much for Christmas though being here I have to think of DM's friends and neighbours who all need cards (one of my top ten pet hates). Of course, I will do it for DM. She's had a bad few days since late last week so we have a telephone appointment with her GP later this afternoon. My early morning 'delight' has been doing my poo test! It's now waiting in the bright yellow padded envelope to go in the post box when I go out later. The plan to scan and shred yesterday was successfully completed so now there's a bag of paper to go out. Such a busy life I lead.
Hugs all round, I hope that wounds heal, snoozes are restful and feet are put up.Happy Tuesday to all.11 -
Morning all! Sunny here and -2°,apparently we can expect a high of 4°. That'll be me staying indoors then...I had a quick look at the front garden, the calla lillies have flopped over so that's my cue to get the fleece on them for protection. Today I'm going to do my best to get some get up and go and start emptying/tidying /decorating the living room. It's just too easy to sit in front of the computer all day and get nothing done. It didn't help that I found a series of books that I quite liked so I've read all ten in the last week too. I have to super clean the downstairs bathroom and kitchen today and get the steam cleaner out too. That's my exciting life! Have two friends coming for coffee in the goth box tonight so I also have to get the seat pads out and some blankets. The heater is great on your hands and face and front, but not so good on the back...Tru, thank you for the hit of cheer again , I'm going to end up saying that every day so please expect a lot of repetition
camelot, if it's acrylic or something, it'll just scrape right off. Sorry about your face TA, will after sun help? Nanny, Gers, how very biological first thing in the morning
made me laugh anyway...Say hello to take care of yourself Tuesday....or too cold Tuesday, take your pick

Morning all
Cold and frosty here again but quite toasty indoors I got up in the night and turned the heating down as the house elf (OH) had turned it up during the day yesterday and it kept coming on overnight.
Was ill again last night after dinner
so was hungry in bed and couldnt sleep I sat in bed and had a packet of crisps and some cashews which helped me settle, I have the hospital this afternoon and I have convinced myself in my head that I am healing so I shall come crashing down if they tell me im not !! I shall have to tell the Dr that I keep being sick too as Im sure its the antibiotics doing it, I have lost 8lb since coming home because I cant keep anything down.
Going to have my boiled egg after this as I seem to be able to keep those down, and I shall have a shower / flannel wash after breakfast.
TA your poor face I do hope it starts to feel better soon xx
MeanMarie I hope you are ok not heard from you for a while xx
Have good days all xx
