I feel cheated as I have been entering tv postal competitions since 2015, and know many people who enter by post rather than the paid online and phone entries.
I would be very interested to find out how many winners between 2016-9, were postal entries.
ITV informed the regulator of the error
"The broadcaster said the problem was a result of "human error by ITV staff" putting information on to a spreadsheet."
You may know many who enter by post, I know none but do know some who pay to enter (they know what I think about doing that) and ITV get many paid entries a week plus all the free entries that you get with paid ones (it maybe that the 7 competitions involved had no postal entries recorded which would give an average of less then 6,000 postal entries per competition but don't know that)
Rounding the numbers a bit 1 entry a week for 6 years at say 60 p is getting close to using stamps worth £190.
I think there have been very few postal winners of bigger competitions as they are a very small percentage of total entries.
The £200,000 competition at the moment is £8 for 10 entries and online entry earns tokens for other draws, I don't enter these but if I was going to would choose the 10 entries at 80 p each (simply entering 1 in 10 competitions instead of all of them) and not use the post where being correctly delivered on time is another risk to the entry not counting (as it always has been)
It makes no difference to ITV if the winner of a competition is a paid or free entry so they have no reason to deliberately exclude a postal entry0 -
Lawyers have now got involved, but unfortunately that lawyer is Rudy Giuliani. He claims our missing postal entries were obviously taken by air to Georgia and Pennsylvania and counted as votes for Joe Biden. The address for postal votes in Georgia was also PO Box 7558 - which is further evidence of a global conspiracy. He claims he has evidence that some people who entered ITV's competitions actually died ten years ago, and others are illegal aliens. I expect this will not be resolved anytime soon.6
