Wanted - Car Oil Change Voucher

Options
Ive seen the vouchers before for HiQ and places like that for an oil and filter change for £29.95 or something like that.

Has anybody seen any or has any that they would like to donate?

thanks

Sorry no voucher but why don't you look at doing it yourself? It's not hard or time consuming...

I do oil changes on our 2 cars every 5000 miles and it costs me £12 and takes <30 mins per car...

    Now thats money saving...!!! :money:

I've never taken a car for 'service'! I'd rather keep the £x00 a year...

If your not mechanically minded ask someone that is or buy a 'haynes' manual for your car which tells you how to do it... (available at halfords)

Agree with simon. I have 3 cars and 3 motorbikes, not including the missus`s car and i service all of them myself. Half decent oil is usually about 8quid although you can get cheapie oil for 3quid. And an oil filter is about 4quid. At least you know exactly what quality of oil & filter you are using rather than letting the cheapie garage use the cheapest they can get.

Its worth looking in your service book and seeing what needs looking at for each service. Air filters are cheap and need replacing every so often and so do spark plugs (make sure you set the right gap). Brake pads are another easy cheap item you can change yourself.

The only time i pay for a service is when my bikes need their "major" services doing as it involves checking & shimming valve clearances which i cant do. But, appart from that ive saved a fortune over the years by doing all the work myself.

These days, i even do large mechanical jobs like fitting new wheel bearings, wishbones, driveshafts, exhaust systems, plus do bodywork welding/spraying etc... Ive even got the engine out of one of my cars atm whilst i rebuild the cylinder head on it.

Thanks for the replys chaps, i can do most things on a car and i do the full servicing on the missus car but i like to keep my car stamped up.

I thought for £30~40 it would be worth it as renault charges me £40 just for labor.

    thanks

What age car do you have as keeping the booked stamped up only really makes a difference for the first 3 years (although I didn't bother with mine)...

Also as long as you get the major services signed up the car will still be classed as having full service history as the others are only recommendations... so just changing the oil which I assume is a minor service job is not worth paying 2/3 times the amount...

I think the fact that not taking my car for service every year saving me probably about £500+ outways any slight depreciation of value of the car for not having 'service history'... especially as I still write down (and type up when it comes to selling) all the work that I've done on the car and keep all reciepts for parts... which most people find as good if not better than a garage stamp...
