Hi Folks,
I live in the N.West and was planning on going to the Karrimor factory up at Accrington at the weekend, only to find out that it has now shut
i had got some great bargains from there in the past like polartec fleeces, ksb boots and gortex pants.
I'm after another fleece and also a camping tent (3-4man and inexpensive)
Just wondering if anyone knows where they can get Karrimor, SprayWay and Berghaus stuff cheap either on the web, or if anyone knows of any factory shops or anythhing along those lines
Cheers

I know what you mean petchy, I was going to go to the Karimoor shop too

Are you anywhere near Blackburn? There's a camping shop in the town centre called Outdoor Action. While it's not an outlet there are sometimes bargains to be had. I picked up some Sprayway w/p pants for £15 (factory seconds) a couple of months ago and they had a couple more pairs in last week. The Berghaus stuff isn't mega cheap but it's cheaper than Blacks and other high-street places.
They also have a decent selection of tents, all set up so that you can see how big they really are.
There's a Mountain Equipment Outlet in Glossop called Magic Mountain.
Gear Zone is cheap for internet orders but the one time I used them they were useless (I believe that they were moving warehouses at the time so my order was 'overlooked' )Just run, run and keep on running!0 -

Have you tried Cotswold Outdoor? They've got a sale on at the mo, and a Rock Bottom Clearance Section"No matter how little money and how few possesions you own, having a dog makes you rich." - Louis Sabin0

Have you tried Winfields of Haslingden? My brother went there a couple of months ago and got a few bargains. Never tried it myself.

I'm in desperate need of a sub-2kg tent for a mountain marathon next week so I've been looking at any 'cheaper' outlets. My Mum knew that Karrimor had an outlet so I looked on the web and found out that the building is now derelict (went into receivership last year). Karrimor do a Kimmlite tent but it's a single skin so I'm not going to bother anyway.
My current tent has proved to be more water-absorbant than water-proof
Oh...btw, we got our sleeping-bags from CMMonline (Castle Mountain and Moor), they were the cheapest place after comparing with other places.Just run, run and keep on running!0 -
Been looking into tents all weekend and just cant decide!!!
Have had a look on edirectory and including p and p you can get a Ultrafit 4 man tent for £25! but are they any good? does anyone know???
Seen a three man one at index too going for £35 that looks ok, but then also at outdoor action in blackburn you can get a named tent i.e vango for as little as £35.
So dont know what to do get a Ultrafit £25 one
an index £35 one
or a branded one????
help me please!!!! lolCheers Petchy0 -
Hiya petchy

I was at Outdoor Action yesterday climbing in and out of the tents downstairs.
Think I'm going to go back this week for a Salewa Khamsin II.
I'd be tempted to go for the Vango (is it the Delta?) purely because they're a good, reliable make and their customer services is excellent.
It also depends how tall you are. We found that my partner couldn't lie down in most without his head and feel touching the fly. Is there any chance that you can test them out? We've found that it's not so much the length but the slope of the fly at the foot end, so the higher domes we're better than the tunnels.
Have a look on here for some reviewsJust run, run and keep on running!0 -
Trespass have a few factory shops - the one at Glasgow Braehead seems to be the cheapest, probably as it's only 5 miles from the actual factory!
Craghoppers are sold (only??) in Debenhams now and have some good sale prices usually - sometimes 80% off on Blue Cross days.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
Finally managed to buy a tent, went for the Vango Gamma 350 - Got it for £49 so seemed a bargain. Just waiting for it to arrive and will see what its like!
Anyone come across one of these before?Cheers Petchy0
