Which coffee machine to get?

Hello.
I am thinking of getting a coffee machine for my Dad as part of his Christmas presents.
He has been missing his Costa coffee fix as he goes there about 4 days a week.
I have a budget of about £100.
He is 80 but able to get about ok and can work things if shown how to use them so that will not be a problem.
He drinks about 3-4 coffee's a day(instant) and also tea, chocolate and green tea's.
I have had a look online but there are so many to choose from and was after some advice on reliable machines and i know the pods/capsules are not cheap.

Thanks.

Very dissapointed with Dulce Gusto, it foams nicely but very synthetic taste, even using dear capsules. Wouldn't buy one again. Even if it was quite cheap.

Well, avoid the machines that require pods or capsules (he would be at the mercy of the companies that make these, and would be unable to adjust the strength to match his personal taste).

Do you know what sort of coffee he likes at Costa? A good espresso machine is likely to be over your budget, and if he likes cappucino or latte you also need to worry about heating and frothing the milk.

The simplest solution is a cafetiere (sometimes called a French press). You can get a perfectly adequate one from TK Maxx for less than a tenner, or you can pay more for better looks. Maybe combine that with a coffee measuring spoon and a nice collection of some different blends of coffee.

I am not sure what coffee he drinks at Costa or other coffee shops but at home he just has black instant coffee.
He has a French press(he has had a few of them) but he keeps breaking them due to either breaking the glass or handles as he presses to hard or they fly of the worktop when he pushes down.

When he is at a Costa he spend about £6 a time on 1 coffee and snack but he enjoys it.

Try this - I use it when I need a vat of coffee, rather than just one at a time - he won't break this one!

For espressos, I use a DeLonghi Magnifica, which is the only one I've had which has a) made good coffee and b) lasted more than a year or two. It's a bean to cup machine.

If he just drinks black coffee then can try making filter.
Just get one of these and some papers.

We have (and use) a Tassimo machine.  They do pods that are based on the Costa Coffee ranges and also a frothy hot chocolate (we like the Cadbury's one, but they have others too) and I believe they have a green tea available.

While we enjoy the coffee that the machine makes us, the use of pods is a negative because of the environmental impact.

Personally i would go the cafeteria route or something like De Longhi pump action .
Is it the coffee he is missing or the outing ??
