Anyone help please? egg payments
I was a member of the cashback site bighair, which closed in March.
George always said he would pay balances outstanding when he could.
He did this, when I came back from holiday there was two emails, one from bighair telling of payment, 1st oct.
The other with the link from eggpay to collect my payment.
I tried to claim, may have used wrong password, said to contact george@bighair,
I have tried to email george several ways, but the site is not live now, parts have been removed.
Also just to complicate matters, I have had problems collecting from eggpay before and found I had to lower my security on the computer to get past the first page.
We now use a different windows and I can't lower it to any less than medium, before it was low. This may be the real problem.
I emailed egg, no responce, phoned several times, most did not even know about the service I was talking about. the fact that I am not an egg customer didn't help.
I did get a lady who sort of knew what I was asking, I gave her all the details I had all the referance numbers from the email, which I thought would have helped,
She phoned me back asking for Georges full name, Rose I think, his address bank account number, there was no reason for me to have these details.
I have had no further contact from them.
If the money had been returned to George I feel he would have contacted me,if he has it then that is one thing, but the thought that it is just lying in the egg funds is another.
Trying to get someone to understand what I am asking is driving me nuts.
This is a method of sending money sort of like paypal.
the sender sents it up with egg they send a link, which you follow, enter your name, email, and a password, this is where I am getting stuck, you should then get to a page to enter the details of the bank you want the funds transferred to.
I realy think the security is the problem and thought egg could have advised, silly me.
sorry to rant on, and sorry if this is the wrong place.

Anybody any ideas how I can collect this payment from egg?
I have run out of ideas and feel I am hitting my head against a brick wall.0 -
Hi Margaret.
None of your post makes any sense so nobody can answer you.
Who is George?
What are you actually trying to do?
Try starting from the start and working forwards in time; logically.
I only looked at this again as I thought someone else had responded.0 -
I only looked at this again .....
And I only looked again - in the vain hope someone had unravelled it. Looked at it late the other night - and went to bed having decided my brain had gone to sleep! So, bit relieved someone else is mystified;) Always thought George was at Asda.
EDIT
Aha .... the wonder of Google.
George appears to be alive and well but inundated under the floods in his (undated) note here (yesterday's flood / Summer flood ??) :-

.... Margaret, if your money hasn't been paid into some holding account - I wouldn't be holding my breathIf you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
hi, thanks for the replies.
George is the owner of a cashback site bighair, which closed in march.
He arranged my payment to be made through Egg banking.
1st Email,
Hi *****
You've just been paid by BigHair!
Best wishes,
George

Egg Pay is a way of sending and receiving money via e-mail. It's brought to you by Egg Banking plc and is a secure way to send money. To collect the money that george@bighair.co.uk wants to send you, you'll need to follow this link: https://new.egg.com/ssl/p2p/receive?ref removed
Then just answer a few quick questions, like where you'd like the money sent (this needs to be a UK bank or building society account) and we'll do the rest. If you want to learn more about Egg and e-mail payments then follow this link: http://new.egg.com/eggpay
I have been paid this way before, always with trouble, you follow the link, enter your name , address email, and an arranged password, this then takes you to a page to enter the details of the bank or building society where you want the funds transferred.
This is a genuine payment. but I cannot get past the first page.
We used to run on windows ME and I had to lower the security to low to get it to work.
We now run on windows XP and the lowest I can put the security is medium.
This may be the problem, or I may have used the wrong password.
Sorry to have confused everyone.
I am trying to collect my payment.0 -
Margaret - pleased the money appears to have been credited prior to George going underwater.
Can't help with the password - but you can reduce the Security level on XP to 'Low' if you're getting conflict messages. Go to Internet Properties / Security / Privacy - then drag the slider down to the bottom and it will change from Medium to Low. Good idea to then close Internet Explorer down and bring it up again before you attempt to extract your money.
At the end - put the Security level back to Medium. If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -

Thanks, managed to make egg a trusted site, reduced the security to low, but didn't make any difference.
I keep thinking there must be a way, but running out of ideas.
thanks again.0
