Barclays Partner Finance Fraud PLEASE HELP

Hi everyone, 

About three weeks ago I recieved a letter from Barclays Partner Finance alleging that I took out a loan for some apple product and it had my bank details attached to it. I have never taken any form of loan out and therefore am a victim of identity theft. Im no sure how this happened but the first thing I did was call but I couldn’t get through to them this day. I called my bank and cancelled my card and the direct debit. I also filed a report on actionfraud and have a crime ref number. 

The following morning I contacted Barclays Partner Finance and told them what happened and they took down my details - they already had my address and name on file but had a bogus email. They said they would refer this to the fraud team and that I would get a call within three working days. The same day I recieved an email from them stating that they are changing my first payment date from Dec to Jan.

 I had not recieved any calls and contacted them again on a Monday - this time the person said Id recieve a fraud pack via post and should have it by the end of the week. Friday came and recieved nothing. I called again the following Tuesday and the lady said she would chase this up with the fraud team via email and again would recieve a call within three working days. Its now Monday and I have not recieved any calls nor the fraud pack and I am getting immensely frustrated.

Its already affected my credit score and I am getting super worried and reading the negative trustpilot reviews. Their ‘fraud team’ is utterly incompetent and practically non-existent. I just want this nightmare to be over. Im scared that they wont do anything and they’ll start sending debt collectors or my bank might close my account or something. Please help and give me advice, I’m really worried, Im just a student and have never experienced anything like this. 

I have also gotten experian fraud involved who are currently investigating - I dont really know if they’ll do much. 

I will be calling Barclays Finance again for the fourth time tomorrow morning.

How has it affected your credit score (score which is meaningless)?
What is important is what is on your credit files - get free copies of your credit history from the 3 main CRA's - see what is on there and take it from there.

You should write and complain if you feel the fraud team are not fit for purpose.
