Hi guys, was wondering if I would work under employment for example in a restaurant and at the same time being a self employed taxi driver how would the tax and national insurance contribution work ? Will the amount of national insurance that I been paying as self-employed be different once I get a job under employment where the employer pays tax and national insurance as well ? Would my employer pay less in national insurance contribution for me because I am already paying mine as self-employed?
Hope you understand my question.
Thanks

Your employer (the restaurant as the example) operates PAYE for your work with them. They deduct tax (taking into account only your employment with them unless you provide a P45 from a previous employer). Your earnings elsewhere makes no difference to the NI either you or they pay for that restaurant work.MeGuinness said:Hi guys, was wondering if I would work under employment for example in a restaurant and at the same time being a self employed taxi driver how would the tax and national insurance contribution work ? Your self-employment continues as now and when you submit annual tax return you include the PAYE earnings in the appropriate area.
