Experience of Halifax remortgaging?

Just wondered if anyone who has recently remortgaged/mortgaged with Halifax or has knowledge of the process/timescales could share?

AIP done and full app submitted 26/11 via broker
Hard search also showing 26/11
Desktop valuation done and approved 27/11

What next? Will it be underwritten by a human? Any idea of timescales? Does it sound positive so far? Remortgaging with some extra borrowing to 85% if that makes any difference.

There's always human oversight. The case has to be signed off by someone with the neccessary authority. As in essence they are writing the cheque on behalf of the Halifax.

There's various searches being performed in the background not just the CRA's that you can see.

@gm12 Halifax can be one of the faster lenders out there, especially since you have had a desktop val. Their processes are heavily automated. If your income is standard PAYE and the application doesn't get referred to a human underwriter, my clients' have had offers come through often in less than a week. This is not to say that it will, just than it could. Good luck!

Yes I've just had my mortgage through with Halifax and it took 2 working days from full application through broker to offer. My income was PAYE and they did a desktop valuation for 85% LVR

I was very surprised at how quick it all happened!

    Good luck x

That’s fantastic - trying not to harass broker but hoping mine might be this straightforward and I might hear soon! So hard waiting, can’t relax at all.

Its so stressful isn't it. I expected to wait a few weeks so when it was sent through to me from the broker I didn't realise it was my offer haha.
If your application is pretty straightforward then hopefully it will come through soon for you!

I went direct, straightforward application, and they did a physical valuation on my house. Offer was issued the same day the valuation was done (I found out when I phoned them) but took over a week for me to receive it by post.

@gm12 Amazing, congrats! This is why I love Halifax sometimes, if you get a desktop val, straightforward cases can go to offer just like that, even during the worst of the covid period.
