Thank you ftbdreaming. She was referred to wheelchair services by the physio but because she is able to get around inside she isn’t eligible (if we lived in the next healthcare area she would be but it seems to be a postcode lottery unfortunately). We are able to to buy one, but DD was appalled that poorer families would not be able to pay and would be affected so badly. It does seem so wrong.

Health finance politics is terrible isn’t it. It’s like prescriptions given in a&e are free if I get them out of the cupboard evenings and weekends but mon-fri 9-5 we have a chain pharmacy in the hospital where we have to send the patients there, then they have to pay for their medication it’s awful! Not many people plan on ending up in a&e.The worse is the trauma patients. We cover the whole of the North West so people get bought in quite far by helicopter then when they’re medically fit they’re expected to arrange their own transport home when sometimes they don’t have a pot to pee in! As you can probably guess I’ve been in trouble a couple of times for giving meds and taxis to poor patients when I’m not supposed to lol. 🙄Mortgage started August 2020 £69,700

Good on you for helping out x
Yes, we are really noticing the difference in health care. We live less than 10 miles from 3 other healthcare areas and there seems to be huge differences between them.
Hospital prescriptions are a nightmare, why on earth you can’t take them to your local chemist is beyond me. The last 2 prescriptions we had to queue for over an hour for after hours in A&E, it’s the last thing you want to have to do. We got the one after her surgery brought to us thank goodness (different hospital and trust), I think queuing for that would have broken her!
Our GP refused to change her dressing on the surgery site as it ‘wasn’t their job’ so we had to do an 90 mile round trip back to the hospital she had surgery in to get it changed 🤬🤯 again other families would have found that impossible. We will be writing a complaint about that but at the time our only concern was getting her comfortable.0 -
Just had a quick read of your diary.
So sorry to read about your DD.
Hopefully you will hear about the DLA soon.

Just read about the GP refusing to change the dressing!
Shocking.
Glad that you are taking it further.

Thank you beanielou I am not hopeful about the DLA.One of the doctors from the GP called my husband after he had left the hospital with my daughter on Friday to say he would change it and he didn’t understand why the nurses in the surgery and the community nurses had refused. It was too late for Friday but next time should be easier. We still can’t believe that they refused to do it ( we initially called Wednesday so it wasn’t sprung on them).
Yes definitely still plodding with the overpayments. We have both increased the payments into our pensions so it is less than before but I like seeing the outstanding balance coming down so I can’t stop completely. I have applied to go to 4.5 days per week though (currently 5) which will affect cash flow so payment into both will have to decrease if it is accepted. The upside is that I will be able to take my daughter to more of her appointments instead of my husband.0
