Hello all,
I've not heard anything from debt collectors for years and years, maybe since 2015/16, but this week I've had a flurry of messages from AJJB Law. Their latest message stated-
"The £454.52 due to BE 2020 formally Bristol Energy is overdue we are now instructed to proceed with a formal letter before claim. Ref XXXXX"
I think I owed Bristol Energy money from like 5 years ago, I have a great many creditors, like PRA, BPO...all sound familiar, so i probably do owe this money but like them all after I contacted stepchange they said you cant afford an IVA cos you have £6 a month and you can't afford to go bankrupt so pay them £1 a month, and i've been doing that for 4 years now. Since then I've heard nothing from any of them, and right now I'm furloughed so the 12 £1 payments are coming from my food budget so should I speak to them or is this spam? I want to be honest but i can't afford £400, they might as well ask me for £4,000,000
Should I tell them this or should I just just ignore them?

After a letter before action comes a claim form, so ignore it at your peril.
However it must be sent in a “prescribed form” usually in writing by means of a letter, to be valid.

I've often said that token offers are a pretty rubbish strategy. There's sometimes a case for doing it for a short period.
I agree with sourcrates. We need to see the bigger picture here. Can you fill in one of these and post it?

Didn't Bristol Energy go belly up after costing Bristol tax payers millions? AJJB Law are probably trying to claim some of the loss back, but best not ignored.0
