  • Tha my you for all the replies. The kids are good and will find food if nothing is made. Occasionally they will make others food too. I will try to make a meal plan  and use it as a guide.
My mental health always deteriorates during winter but I am having therapy which is good.
You aren't alone there, many of us get worse during the winter and this year in particular is very tough

As long as you are aware of where you are at and are actively getting help and advice and talking, you are doing good

No one on here is here to judge, so do keep asking questions. There are plenty of threads on here where you may find inspiration or more advice

    All the very best xx

My meal plan is a list of potential meals, part favourites, part things that need eating soon and easy stuff that can be low effort such as jacket potatoes/oven chips, sausage/fish fingers and beans (fill the oven), pizzas from freezer tarted up with bits from the fridge, soup HM or tinned with bread/sandwich and a pud  tinned fruit/tinned rice.  I don't allocate days further ahead than today. I like to cook from scratch, but recognise that the fatigue will not always allow that, those days anything goes.

I will only very rarely allocate a day to a meal and works better for me to plan for 2 weeks at a time. I also try and plan a couple of meals that I'll cook double and freeze as makes it easier on the days I can't be bothered to cook.
I will plan for a couple of quick meals too like some chicken tray bakes which take 5 minutes to prep but may take 45 minutes in the oven but I'm not doing anything to them in that time. These also involve less washing up which is good.
