Retraining

Hello. My local college is offering a 12 week course in Software Development, Digital Marketing or Business Data Analytics. Can anyone advise on the pros and cons of each? Thanks.

As a software developer, you would work with users or specifiers of computer software to write and test the computer code needed to achieve a specific aim.
As a Digital Marketer, you would work with software tools to produce engaging communications to attract customers to a product or service.
As a Business Data Analyst, you would work with software tools to analyse business data to produce useful information for managers in a business, or work with existing business system to establish the ways that data flows through them and is altered by them.

All three jobs are creative - you are creating something out of nothing.
The Business Data Analyst and Software Developer roles are particularly technical and require great attention to detail.  These roles also require good people skills as you may be working directly with business people.
The Digital Marketing role requires a lesser range of technical skills but more knowledge of how people are attracted to new ideas.
You need to be very good at researching to make a success in any of these careers.
All three roles are in demand and are likely to be in demand for the foreseeable future, although competition to enter each field is also strong.

Hope this helps you select a course you will enjoy. In my experience people are good at what they enjoy and they only enjoy what they are good at.

If you can buddy up with someone doing the other courses, you might be able to get sight of what the other courses are covering to see if you seem more interest in that. Some basic training in software development would be very useful in either the Business Data Analyst role, or even for Digital Marketing as you may need to do some simple coding as part of this role.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

Yes; the college. They should be extremely well placed to explain what each course entails and help you to assess which, if any, would best meet your needs.
