Downgrading channels on Sky - How easy?

Currently on the full package but a little review last night revealed how many channels we pay for and don't actually use. Not thinking of anything too major, but just lopping of a few 'mixes' channels like the kids and music ones. Is this relatively easy to manage online within the sky account? And when would the change/new subscription price start from?

As we found out last week, you can't downgrade online - only upgrade. It took a while on the phone to sort it, but they asked when we wanted to activate it from, I think we said a few days later. It turns out we've paid enough in advance to cover the smaller bill until January now.The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0

It'a the same if you're not the account holder. Our account is in dh's name. I can upgrade the package but I can't downgrade it. As he works away from home for 5 weeks at a time it's a pain, especially as we took out Sky Sports just to watch the Scotland v Italy game. We're going to have to pay an extra month becaue he doesn't get home until just before Christmas. I also couldn't cancel my subscription, but I could order an HD box without his say so.
Ah well, it was a good game. Just a pity we lost.0 -
I've downgraded my sky by email (it takes a couple of days so give them enough notice). Just log into the site, send them your viewing card number and let them know which package you want to downgrade to.0

When I rang to enquire about taking off two packages that we never use, I was told that it would only reduce the bill by £2, ie £1 per package, the rest being the basic subscription, which is fixed.0
