does a work place have to take your mental health issues in to consideration ,even if they are not offically aware if you make a mistake or error

How are they supposed to even be able to do that if they are not aware? They are either aware or not aware, where does the "officially" come into your question?1

my line manager is aware but not HR0

I would assume it may depend on the severity of the error or mistake . It should be mitigating circumstances thoughEx forum ambassador

Even so, you can't assume that 'mental health issues' will automatically mean mistakes and errors are overlooked or treated more leniently. You still need to be able to do your job to an acceptable standard - and if your mental health problems preclude this, and your employer cannot realistically accommodate your issues, then it is difficult to see how they can 'take them into consideration'. If you can pluck up courage to talk to them, you may be pleasantly surprised by how willing they are to at least try and support you.3 -

Otherwise the short answer is no, they do not have to make allowances for mistakes or errors.2 -

OP, would you be happy to get on an aeroplane with a pilot who's mental health was such that he couldn't do his job properly and expected his employer to overlook this?3 -
Yes as others have said, you must make HR aware.0
