I complained to the ASA about First Trust's new billboard posters. It advertises a "free account" which costs £8 a month and that it is "available to everyone" which is clearly not true. I received a reply from the ASA today:
"We think you have a valid point and, with a view to acting quickly, will instruct the advertisers to change their advertisement. We will ask themto avoid implying that their account is available to everyone by removing the headline claim and will get an assurance from then that they will make that change. We have also received a complaint that the account is not free because the account costs £8 per month abd will also bring that point up with the advertsiers."
So, a slight victory eh?0 -
Th ASA usually worm their way out of having to do anything. first Trust are pretty thick for putting up that ad though.0
