I second fleece lined tights, but also even better are M n S fur lined tights , found them last year and they are super thick, very warm. You could probably still get trousers over the top. Layers are the way to go. Good luck.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.1

I'm just chiming in to tell you about Primark Feet Heaters which are men's thermal socks that are lovely and warm and their fleece lined tights and leggings for women which I haven't tried yet but do look lovely. Also Uniqlo's Ultra Warm thermal range are wonderful and both cheaper and better than the M&S equivalents.
You don't have to tell your OH but going by my experience he could be right! I've lost a lot of weight over the last 18 months or so and also do daily, regular exercise and I notice that it is easier to both get warm and stay warm now that I'm not such a whale slimmer and more active than I was. I think this may have something to do with one's percentages of different types of body tissue but let's not go into that here.
I go for a brisk 20-30 minute walk after breakfast and before the rest of the day IYSWIM and that really helps to get me warmed up and the blood whizzing round, when I get back then I'm really wide awake and alert too.
For horrible cold evenings I have a heated throw that I bought after reading about them on a thread in this forum around this time last year, buy one, you'll never regret it.1 -
I bought a few pairs of Primark fleece-lined leggings last year because historically they have been quite good - I got the largest size because I like them not so tight, extra material to insulate, but every single pair was incredibly tight (and still is, despite wearing several times when I've been able to tolerate them, to try to wear them in) - I'm going to have to give them away, I think So that's put me off I have to admit, even though in the past Primark have been fine. I shall have to look into the other recommendations.1
