has anyone any experience of moving from income support to universal credit. My friends youngest child will be 5 in December. The day after the child’s birthday she has to move from income support to universal credit.
Has anyone moved from income support to universal credit.
Do they still wait 5 weeks for money .
what happens with housing benefit during that time .
I know they can apply for an advance payment but they want to avoid that .
When they finally get universal credit are the payments monthly or twice a month.

From what I know, it’s still a 5 week wait for UC, and it’ll be paid every 2 weeks, however you can request it monthly
If she lives in her own home she’ll have to apply for rate rebate herself online, I’d probably do it the same day
If she’s a tenant, I’m honestly not sure.
Hopefully someone will have more information - the benefits board may a good place as there is CAB staff etc there too1
