well for me it’s a bit mix and match. I don’t need a recipe for basic things like bolognese but there are some that I need to double check every time especially as I don’t just stick to the same repertoire every week or even every month. Plus I like trying out new recipes.

I couldn’t bear to plan meals for a month, and if I did I wouldn’t stick to it. I have a rough plan for a week but it might change if I spot something I fancy more or if there is a good offer. My planning often revolves round ‘if I make x, what else can I make with those ingredients’ - because I’m on my own and things are usually packaged in family sized quantities and I don’t want anything to go to waste.

I don’t need to do a big shop more than once every 4-5 weeks, and because I live in suburbia I have several supermarkets and other food shops nearby so I can just top up on fresh veg and milk whenever I need to. I don’t have to plan the way my friend who lives in the back of beyond does.

I have virtually no waste at all.

It's called batch cooking and meal planning.

BTW, it's a very old thread dating back to 11/2020.
