I'm in my late 60s and am still waiting to be contacted by my surgery for my flu jab.

OH - who is 18 months younger - has had a letter from the same surgery inviting him to ring to make an appointment for his.

Could you not ask them to do yours at the same time?

I had a similar issue a few weeks ago as my son and I received texts advising us to book for flu jabs but my other son, daughter and husband didn't get asked to make an appointment. I rang them to ask if we could all be done together and was told 'no, you have to wait for us to contact you".

Sent a complaint to the practice manager, stating that it was better for us all to go at the same time, less risk to us and less risk to them, etc. Seems they came around to my way if thinking as I  received a phone call the day after the letter went in, offering us all appointments at the same time.

    Thanks, it's worth checking.
OH has an appointment for 2nd week in December, been told to turn up between 3.00 and 3:30pm and 'join the queue'.
I'll try them on the 'you'd only have to clean down once and will get 2 people off your list'.

At present my gp and my local chemist are still just doing the NHS patients who are over 65.  I will have to try them again in December

I've never had a flu jab and I am considering it this year - what does anyone think?  Should I take it?
Yes. I've had one for the last five years. If you don't have to pay, why not? It's better to have the jab than 'flu.

I'm not so sure about the corona jab though, efficacy and long term effects aren't known.

Just phone your surgery and ask for an appointment. That's what we do. Don't wait for them, letters sometimes fall through the cracks (literally) and this year it's a bit different, what with coronavirus and all.

Maybe phone the surgery and make an appointment for each of you?
Act innocent and say something like 'I'm surprised that my letter hasn't arrived yet- I assume it's lost in the post?'

Got mine done at the local  chemist, then, after  that my gp texted me to say to  book it, then nhs sent me a letter to say book for it. No wonder the NHS is broke, all that duplication, and obviously no liason between gp and chemist

    Just an update from me:
I received a letter from NHS about ringing my surgery to make an appointment but before I could do that, they rang me and we arranged it for the same day/time as my OH.

I got my appointment booked just before Boots suspended new bookings so had mine over a month ago.

Mum has been very lax about sorting hers; no clinics this year by appointment only at surgery. She assumed one could be done at a pre existing appointment next week (booked yesterday) but Surgery said no not until 15th December.

Luckily she phoned her chemist as she needs to go there next week as well, and they said if she doesn't mind a short wait they should be able to do it for her.
