Mortgage ppi advice please

Hi, I'm a supply teacher and my partner is a civil servant. We're unsure as to what ppi we should get as i won't be covered for sickness or redundancy and he would get long term sick anyway? Please help.

PPI is regulated by the FSA as is advice given on it. Therefore we cannot give advice to you on the boards without breaching FSA rules. It would also breach board rules which also tell us not to give specific advice. However, discussion is allowed and encouraged so we can comment generically.

I'm not sure that a Civil Servant or teacher requires ASU. What are the odds of either of you being made redundant? So the "U" side of things is probably a waste of money. The "AS" side of things is also probably best served by a permanent health insurance rather than an accident and sickness policy. Especially as short term sickness is covered by the employer.
he would get long term sick anyway?

Dont count on it. This is one of those myths that floats around. He may get 6 months full pay, 6 months half pay but after that they would usually look to pension him off and that figure will be based on what service has been achieved to date. Unless you have over 30 years you are unlikely to find the figure is anywhere near high enough to survive on.
