I'm living on pension and spend much less than £5/day on food. £60.44 so far this month. The OP sounds as though she will be fine.

Perhaps you need just to keep meals simple for a while, Densol, things that don't demand too much cooking/thinking to do. Soups, scrambled/poached eggs/ whatever meals you have ready to go in the freezer.

Densol, there is nothing like the end of the world as you know it to do one of two things. You either fill the void with food and compensate by giving yourself endless treats, or you are so full of misery that you have no appetite at all.
You seem to have taken the second route. Just make sure that the little you do eat is nutritious as well as delicious. Embrace the fact that you will soon be able to wear the clothes that are currently too tight. There are positives in every situation.
Save up all the money you are not spending on food and when you have recovered enough buy yourself something wonderful. Don't do it too soon, you have a way to go before you can really enjoy treating yourself.
Oh, and try to ignore people who cheerfully tell you that now you can be yourself and do what you want to do. For a while you won't know who you are and won't want to do anything.
Everyone is on your side and will help you wherever possible. Good luck. xI believe that friends are quiet angels

Hi @Densol. How are you doing? Is December looking like an easier month (emotionally and financially)?

It ain’t what you do, it’s the way that you do it - that’s what gets results!

- PipWell I managed to get through the month rather easily in the end ! The stress of the breakup and the fact I eat very little meant I was spending about a £1 a day on food !
Ex was a big man and ate a lot of expensive food. With that out of the equation, I still have freezers full of food !Ive been reading up on here for recipes to make with the stuff from my freezers and its amazing how far you can make food goAlso lockdown helped and Ive never been one for fast food or take aways.Im ok for this month now - thankfully had another pension kick in as Im 55 - so the panic is over. What it has shown me is how much I was spending ( wasting) on food each month - money Id rather spend on decorating
Thanks for asking after me - that is really kind of you x13 -

Glad to read that you’re feeling better! The forums on here are great for ideas for bulking food out. I’m a huge fan of batch cooking and would make a months worth of food in one go. This massively helped me to lost weight whilst also staying in control of my spending!3
