Libel

Hello
I would like some advice on an employment matter.
Someone high in HR has written libelous comments about myself in an email not sent to me. I have seen the email in a discussion with my manager but do not have a copy of it.
Its been investigated by my manager and there is nothing that backs up the comments against my name or nothing on file. So any comments are unfounded and unsubstantiated.
What options do I have.?

  • What outcome do you want? Did you raise an official grievance or just informally notify your manager? What damage have you suffered as a result of the alleged libel?

A formal withdrawal and an apology. Can you clarify about the formal grievance. This is from HR. I've raised it with my manager who has replied by email that nothing has been found against me upon investigation. Mental health and stress. Thanks
  • Did you follow your employer's published grievance procedure - as stated in your staff handbook or intranet.
  • Let's assume I have based on this email I got from management confirming there is nothing on file. Then what are my options?

Without needing the specifics, can you give us the gist of the "libel"?

    For example is it
"blip isn't very good at her job"
    "blip has HIV"
    "blip has body odour"
"blip said something rude to me"
"others in the office hate blip"

Was the statement true for starters ? You seem to have neglected to say one way or another

How has what was said "damaged" you or have the potential to do so

    There are many many variables

One for your union I would think

Did this not get resolved in March ?

Move on with your life? You posted exactly the same question in March: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6116201/workplace-advice#latest
  • Could the people in HR complain that you are libelling them, for making unfair accusations about how they are going about their work?

Nobody can help you if you don't provide any details of what you are talking about.

Fewer options than you had back in March this year, given your lack of action for months on end.

Judging by the non-committal answers you (almost) gave on the previous thread, I'd suggest nobody here will be able to help and if you won't engage, why should we waste our time?
