Payrise agreed with no increase on payday

So, firstly I know I am very lucky in the current climate to have a job, also with a company who has paid 100% of our wages throughout the pandemic. Five members of staff left off their own accord before lockdown begun and therefore no redundancies have been made in the company. I have been promoted into one of these empty roles, and as I've taken on a lot more work and responsibility I was given a 2.5k pay rise. This was confirmed in writing but my contract hasn't been edited yet. Because this was signed off midway through the month (Sept) they said I would be paid the new wage as of October's pay, I worked 6 weeks of my new role and payday came - I was given my old wage. I queried this immediately with owner of the business who apologised and said they had forgotten about the pay rise, and that the difference would be paid the following week - nothing. I chased this up and was told they'd forgotten again and that they would pay it that week - still nothing.
I am quite concerned that November's pay will come and it will be my old wage again with no payrise and none of the money that they owe me. What action can I take if anything?

The OP's position is frustrating but not that uncommon. Just work with the employer - when they eventually process the pay-rise it should also be a little bonus with the extra back-pay also. It might even arrive in time for Christmas, or the post-Christmas credit card bill.
I wouldn't worry for the time being.1 -
How can they forget? once ok, but 3 times! Sounds like an excuse to mug you off!!
What to do? I really don't know other than keep on them each week.2 -
Who actually prepares the pay runs? An employee, outside contractor, service company or the owner themselves?

That's how I'm trying to look at it at the moment, it's a tough one due to the current climate.Grumpy_chap said:The OP's position is frustrating but not that uncommon. Yep, they are also known for avoiding to pay contractors etc. I am going to bring it up with them again and see what they say this time!Marvel1 said:How can they forget? once ok, but 3 times! Sounds like an excuse to mug you off!!

The owners prepare the pay runs themselves. We had two people in accounts but they left before lockdown. This is part of the issue, there's no unbiased party in that department now.General_Grant said:Who actually prepares the pay runs? The day before they do the pay run, send them an email reminding them and asking if they could also include the back pay in this months wages?
Or print a picture of Jerry Maguire (show me the money) and put it on their desk.

yeah, good idea. send them a reminder on the day before it gets through pay run and say 'in case you forget this time, please can you put it through the pay roll this time, pretty please'.ACG said:The day before they do the pay run, send them an email reminding them and asking if they could also include the back pay in this months wages?
