Northern Rock (NRAM) Charging Order & AoE

I had a secured loan with Northern Rock (way back obviously). This was defaulted on and a Charging Order was placed on my property as a result.
After Northern Rock collapsed my debt was transferred to Mortimer Clarke Solicitors who also applied for an Attachment of Earnings Order against me.
I have an arrangement to pay each month (which I have been for a few years now). I have reclaimed the PPI (from NRAM) on the original loan which took a chunk out of my total debt.
I have now managed to clear all other debts (other than my mortgage) and am looking to rebuild my credit rating so I can get a new mortgage and move house.
There's a decent amount of equity in my property and my intention is to use this to clear the old Northern Rock balance and obviously a deposit on a new house.
My query here is around where I stand with this Charging Order and if the solicitor that now own the debt actually have the ability/power/authority to agree to the charge removal?
Going out on a limb, does anyone know if there are any rulings or anything like that they should never have placed the Charging Orders in the first place?
Thanks

    Hi,
Mortimer Clarke Solicitors will not own your debt, they are the legal arm of Cabot Credit Management.
It will be them you need to speak to.
Since the 1st October 2012, once a CCJ has been granted, a creditor can apply for a CO straight away, its a legal process you would have been involved with, the time to challange it was then, not now, but it will be removed once the debt is paid.
Incidently when was the CO applied ? as the limitation period for a CO is 12 years.
