Has anyone had experience of designing, and selling t-shirts online? All videos, I seem to find, are American, and aimed at Amazon Merch, where you don't even see the shirt. You just load your logo into Amazon Merch, and your customer, orders it from Amazon, and they print it, and ship it. The profits are low, but then again, all you are doing, is the design. Aparentley, Amazon Merch, is by invitation only, and has downsides. I just wondered if there are other ways, without much cost. Thanks in advance.

I have dabbled with Redbubble using photos, get an occasional sale.  It is free to join so might be worth trying it.
  • Difficult to make any money in T-shirt printing alone really. There's just so many people doing it and the set up costs if you want to do them yourself are quite low. But it's like any business, you start small and build up over the years, introducing new products to go along with your T-shirt printing. It's not as simple as sending off some designs and expecting any amount of decent cash from it, if any at all.
  • Thanks guys. Not wanting to make a great fortune, but love messing with graphics, and thought, if I could earn a little for doing it, all the better. Already re-designed, our clubs logo, and asked a printer what it would cost to vinyl print, and got a reasonable price, but I don't really want to have stock. I'd love to print my own, actually did about, half a dozen, 20 year ago for millenium, which I was pleased with, but haven't got the room now. I'll take a look at Redbubble thanks.

  • If you want to print or draw yourself designs on clothes, I advise you to try to develop your business through Facebook or Instagram. Especially now there is an ecological paint that does not harm the environment. It will be a great startup in a small town.

    I completely agree with you.
  • Yes, use Facebook or Instagram first because it's an appropriate place to start your business. You can check the demand and find out ways how to improve your ideas

I would recommend Teepublic - I've made at least $11 there in this year alone!  :D

Thanks, for all the replies, I have a few ideas, which are mainly, typography type tees. Some, I do want to put an image on, but I am wary of sites that say, licence free, only to find, you can't use it commercialy. Basically, any images I find, will be edited anyway. As an example, I want a png file of a Skydiver, but I will turn that image, into a sillouhette, but I'm struggling finding the right one, that doesn't have a restricted licence. As for printing, I'm not sure which way to go yet. I know a company, that will print my design, at a reasonable price, but that would mean, I have to get a printed tee shirt, before I can put it on Facebook.

I use Placeit for some mockups. This might be of use to you in this instance.

Thanks Potbellypig, I'll have a look, but I'm ok with the mockups, I've done some already with Gimp. It's finding a site, that I don't have to click on every image, to see what licence it is, only to find out, I can't use it.
