Hi,
We are due to complete next friday, 20th on our new build. Just want to ask if Halifax will be requiring us to get a home insurance for the mortgage funds to be released? Actually, we already got one but just want to double check as our solicitors hasnt contacted us yet. Should we forward the policy to our solicitors? We are anxious, nervous, worried, excited for our new house so we want to get everything sorted out asap. Please advise. Thanks.

Yes, you generally need to have buildings insurance in place for the new house at the time of exchange. It should be written in your mortgage offer.

My Halifax offer stipulates that buildings insurance should be in place by the date of exchange and that the solicitor will be required to have this information so they can verify and satisfy the lender.FTB with Halifax
