Glad you have a plan to make your list less overwhelming.

I get what you mean about loosening the purse strings for a while... I definitely need to retighten mine.

Thanks savingholmes, I'm definitely getting there with it.

I was watching Dave Ramsey earlier today and he was explaining about how he preferred to be debt-free as you limit any risk, he makes it so easy to understand.  You might have to buy less stuff but you are more financially secure, and he just prefers not being in debt.

The PBs weren't in my favour tonight again, still another £25 has been paid into the account, so my ISA and PBs are showing a good little healthy balance now anyway

    HI Sandy

DR has helped me in my journey - however - I hate his stance on pensions while in debt - he's so wrong it's unreal.

I'm the same savingholmes, I don't follow DR to the letter.  I encouraged DD to join the company pension at age 17 - you just don't miss the payments when you're on a low wage.  I know someone who didn't join our employer pension early on, and now that they are on a higher wage (and higher contributions) its seems too much wage to lose to join (even though I try to encourage them to join).

Found some shrapnel in the car park today (50p) which was a little bonus.  Made some progress towards the 'list'.  Got out in the fresh air this morning.  Hoping to complete a marketplace sale in the next few days for a few £s cash.  And I'm almost at the point of cashing out £20 and £5 Huyu and Shoppix.  Some nice little positives this weekend.

Proud of DD she's paying 7% into her pension at 18 and her company doubles it.

I was daft at one point and only paid half rate. Regret it now.

    Good your DD is listening.

    Gotta love free £

Same here debtfree - they won't be anything to write home about but I am grateful for the one I took early, and am currently boosting the second one so will be working for a while yet.

So glad saving that the younger generations are more informed when it comes to pensions.  I wish I had paid in from a young age instead of wasting it on perfume and alcohol.

Made some good progress on the list today, its looking hopeful that it will be a very small list by the start of the new year.  And then I'll be concentrating on the 'me' list.  Had a shopping delivery today, which was much nicer than trawling round the supermarket and a bit of good news about a temporary promotion (long awaited).

A bit of good news about a temp promotion.... stop hiding the ball. That sounds fabulous! Well done.

I much prefer getting my shopping delivered - especially right now.

  • Temporary promotion news sounds great.

I feel my shopping delivery is a gift to me. No stress, no hassle, no time spent with / without kids not wanting to go shopping AND sticking within budget which wouldn’t happen in the shop.

Thanks savings and debtfree.  It really is good news, but you know when something has taken longer than it should have and it loses the edge.  But really it is great, I'm pleased

I loved the shopping delivery, its a bit like the robovac, someone else is doing the work while I'm doing something else - very productive.  I'll definitely do it again, and the delivery was quick with no substitutions.  The last few deliveries I had - which was a different shop, and to be fair sort of between lock downs - I had a few substitutions and they were so late it made me wonder why I'd bothered.  Will definitely be trying this again.

Good news to report that yet another item crossed off the list.  Others have been part done but am waiting confirmations from the companies, so very soon we should be down to single figures!  Its lovely to get some of those monkeys off my back.
